Artist Statement

I'm an artist and animator who works in printmaking, ceramics, as well as 2D and 3D animation. I play and combine the mediums I work in and create works that can be light-hearted but layered with deeper meanings. My work is inspired by the beauty of mundane settings and how simple things can be distorted to capture human emotions, especially when they’re composed in art pieces. I also like to play with the opposite; finding mundanity in otherwise surreal settings as human emotions are always present no matter what situation people are in.

 

The value of relationships whether between people, objects, or settings is a theme I tend to depict in my narrative animation work. Good stories to me are more than just a timeline of events but how those kinds of relationships are observed. In my studio work, these themes are more abstracted where I let myself experiment with the medium. I ultimately enjoy making work that is fun and playful and I’m always glad if it puts a smile on someone’s face.
